House and Home
( 2004 – 2005 )
A concern about house and home is embodied in titles like Undisclosed Location and Dream House, made visible by a broken grid suggestive of a floor plan layout. Reductive yet painterly, these works reinforce my idea of painting as the intersection between abstraction and representation, object literalness and allusive metaphor. While not literally depictions of place, many of these paintings were inspired by the ideals we conceive about the places we live and work.
